Seven days. 100% dirt roads. The world's deepest gorge. A sacred shrine at 3,800m. This is Lower Mustang — Nepal's best-kept Himalayan secret, on two wheels.
Forget the Instagram Nepal. The Jomsom Muktinath Motorbike Tour takes you north of the Himalayas — into a landscape that looks more Tibetan plateau than South Asia. Arid canyons, medieval villages, apple orchards clinging to cliffsides, and the relentless howl of the Kali Gandaki wind that'll test every ounce of your riding game.
Once a fiercely independent Tibetan kingdom, the Mustang region sat sealed off from the outside world for centuries. Even today, it carries that mystical, otherworldly energy — like you've ridden straight off the edge of the map.
Our 7-day guided tour is built for international adventure riders who want more than a scenic cruise. You'll tackle 100% dirt road through the Kali Gandaki Gorge, soak in natural hot springs at Tatopani, and summit to Muktinath temple at 3,800m — one of the most sacred sites in all of Asia.
Every day is fully supported: expert local guide, dedicated mechanic, all permits handled, accommodation sorted. Focus on one thing — riding harder, going higher, and coming home with stories that actually slap.
Soak your road-beaten muscles in thermal springs beside the raging Kali Gandaki River. Pure post-ride bliss at its most elemental.
Ride through the Kali Gandaki Gorge — flanked by Dhaulagiri and Annapurna, two of the world's highest peaks, less than 40km apart.
One of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Asia. Eternal flames of natural gas, 108 sacred waterspouts, and views that'll rewire your brain.
Centuries-old monasteries, Thakali villages, apple brandy in Marpha — cultural depth you simply can't get from a trekking trail.
From Kalopani onward: loose gravel, river crossings, steep switchbacks. Real ADV riding, not a guided highway slog. This is what you came for.
Nepal's apple capital at 2,670m — fresh apples, local cider, unhurried lunch. The pit stop you didn't know you needed.
Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak — a relentless parade of 8,000m giants framing every single turn of the route.
Intimate group sizes so every rider gets personal support. Flexible itinerary — we ride to your pace, not a rigid clock.
Land at Kathmandu and let us handle the chaos — your airport transfer is sorted. Check into Thamel, the beating heart of Nepal's traveller scene. We'll run a quick test ride on your assigned bike so you're already bonded with your machine before the real adventure begins. Evening briefing over dinner: routes, gear check, weather intel. Tomorrow, we ride.
🛬 Arrive · Rest · Gear UpEarly morning roll-out from Kathmandu as the city stirs. The Prithvi Highway to Pokhara is one of Nepal's most rewarding all-day rides — rivers on your left, terraced hills rising on your right. By afternoon you're pulling into Pokhara, with Phewa Lake shimmering and the Annapurna massif stacked above. Tonight is for rest, reflection, and tomorrow's anticipation.
🏍 First Major Ride · Valley ViewsThis is where the gloves come off. Smooth tarmac for the first 65km, then the road transitions to pure dirt as you enter the Kali Gandaki corridor. The mountains start showing themselves in an almost theatrical way: Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna I (8,091m) loom impossibly large above the gorge walls. Pull into the tiny village of Kalopani at dusk, 2,530m, already breathing a different kind of air.
⛰️ Dirt Begins · Gorge Entry · Mountain GiantsThe big one. Every kilometre from here is raw dirt road — loose gravel, river crossings, wind-blasted plateaus that feel extraterrestrial. Lunch stop in Jomsom (2,720m), where the wind is a permanent resident. Then push higher, past Kagbeni, past the gates of Upper Mustang, the landscape strips back to bone. And then — the sacred plateau of Muktinath at 3,800m. You've earned it. Altitude acclimatisation overnight.
🏔 Summit Day · Sacred Ground · Epic DirtMorning is for Muktinath itself — explore the Jwala Mai temple (where natural gas burns eternally), the 108 sacred waterspouts of Mukti Dhara, and the Gompa Samba monastery before the crowds arrive. Then descend into Marpha for local apple brandy and an unhurried lunch. Afternoon roll-down to Tatopani — natural hot springs bubbling beside the Kali Gandaki. Soak, recover, stare at the stars.
♨️ Sacred Sites · Apple Town · Hot Springs RecoveryA well-earned, mostly downhill run back to Pokhara. The road south along the Kali Gandaki feels completely different now you've seen what lies at its source. Villages, suspension bridges, waterfalls — details you'll actually notice now that the high-altitude adrenaline has settled. Arrive Pokhara by afternoon; lakeside dinner to celebrate the descent.
🏞 Descent · River Views · Lakeside RestThe final stretch. You'll ride the Prithvi Highway differently than Day 1 — more confident, more attuned. Every curve familiar in a satisfying way. Evening back in Thamel: farewell dinner, story-swapping, and that particular post-expedition satisfaction that only two-wheel adventurers know.
🏁 Final Ride · Farewell DinnerTransfer to Tribhuvan International Airport. We'll be there to see you off — and quietly hope you're already planning your next Nepal ride. The Upper Mustang is calling. So is the Everest circuit. See you back on the road.
✈️ Departure · Until Next TimeA holy dip here is said to wash away negative karma. The water is bracing, the setting is surreal.
Sacred waterspouts fed directly from the Gandaki River. Pilgrims have bathed here for centuries seeking liberation.
Natural gas flames burn eternally within this ancient temple — fire, water, and earth coexisting in one sacred compound.
The famous monastery at Muktinath's entrance gate — butter lamps, ancient thangkas, monks who've seen it all.
The world's deepest gorge — riding through it recalibrates your sense of scale in a way that nothing else can.
Natural thermal pools beside a roaring glacial river. Your muscles will thank you. Your soul might, too.
Nepal's orchard capital at 2,670m produces remarkable apple brandy and cider. The most unexpected pit stop of the trip.
The indigenous communities of Mustang — their food, festivals, and architecture are unlike anything in southern Nepal.
